CAPRI PIZZA
History of Capri Giochino Liquori started Capri when he first arrived to America from Bracigliano, Italy. Capri first opened their doors in 1966 on Jackson Street. Although business was doing great, a fire prompted “Jackie” to move Capri to Springfield, MA on Liberty Street. In 1971, after not having as great success as he had in Holyoke, Jackie moved Capri Pizzeria back to Holyoke on Main Street. In 1973, Jackie moved Capri one last time to the place we all know now, 18 Cabot Street. In 1982, Jackie decided to move back to Italy, and that is when his nephew, Fiore Santaniello, purchased Capri from his uncle, who still continues to run and manage Capri to this day. Since ’82, Fiore has done his best to deliver outstanding service and quality to Capri’s customers. In 1988, he bought the building next to Capri and opened up Capri Restaurant. He felt that Holyoke needed a place for fine Italian dining. In 2000, Fiore gave Capri Pizzeria a major facelift. He had closed down the restaurant, renovated the pizzeria, which tripled its’ seating space, and gave it the look you see today. Currently, Capri is owned and run by Fiore Santaniello, and managed by his two sons, Salvatore and Gennaro Santaniello. Capri Catering is managed by Rosa Santaniello. Though Capri’s look as changed over the years, the quality and service is still the priority.
